The Sara Blakely story is a great example of someone with an idea making it happen.

Working out of her apartment Sara Blakely found a need in the marketplace and with $5,000 and got down to work. She first received a patent on her footless pantyhose, and then did all the legwork cold calling and demostrating. Then the breakthrough happened as she received an call from Oprah which rocketed her business.

She appeared on a reality t.v. show for 3 months while leaving her company. Sir Richard Branson travelled with her and showed her how to set up a foundation, and the Sarah Blakely Foundation to help women was born.
