Mario Pand Martion Prada worked making and selling leather goods in Milan Italy in 1913. The busines wass passed down through the family and in 1978 sales hit almost half a million dollars.
Prada shoes were available in 1984.
The line grew and catered to wealthy women and the brand became famous around 1989. The clothing emitted confidence without blatent sexiness.
Now there are Prada skincare lines, eyewear, and even Prada phones. The company expects to earn $5 billion in 2010.
